Hiking the Sugar Loaf?

Yes, you can hike the Sugar Loaf as well as other trails while in Rio.

The hiking trails are a pleasant surprise to most people, who are not typically aware of the wealth of hiking opportunities the city offers.

Hike to empty beaches surrounded by lush vegetation and hills,
Hike to mountain peaks over 1000 meters, right by the ocean or within the national park
Hike to waterfalls in the national park.
Hike in the Atlantic Forest.

Endless opportunities that can enhance your stay in the city.

SUGAR LOAF

Come eXplore the Sugar Loaf on this hiking tour.

A gorgeous walk to the summit of the Sugar Loaf, with an added twist: a small 15meter climbing section halfway to the top for a bit of adrenaline. Return by cable car + a short walk down to the beach.

TIJUCA NATIONAL FOREST

Summit peaks of up to 1022 meters in height.
Hike trails taking you to caves, waterfalls and archaelogical ruins.
Explore a multi-peak route on the national park.

These are some of the hiking options awaiting you.

GUARATIBA BEACHES

Come to one of the hidden spots in Rio, off-beaten track. The beaches are only accessible by foot, on a pleasant walk that will take us to two - three beaches.

Lush vegetation, clear waters, empty beaches, amazing scenery. What are you waiting for.

PEDRA BONITA

One of the most popular easy walks available, the hike is short and gentle, with a breathtaking view from the top of Sao Conrado and Barra neighborhoods, and Gavea Peak greeting us.

On the return, a stop at the hang-gliding ramp. Want to fly?

GAVEA PEAK

One of the most physically demanding trails, the Gavea Peak is a three hour hike to the top, where, for some, the most beautiful view awaits the group.

360 view of the national park, Dois Irmaos Mountain, Atlantic Ocean, and on clear days the Statue of Christ and Sugar Loaf.

SERRA DOS ÓRGÃOS NATIONAL PARK

Demanding walks with incredible scenery in this national park just outside the city.

One-day to multi-day trails, including peaks up to 2200 meters (6600 feet) in height is the norm. Are you ready for this challenge?
