TRAD CLIMBING

This course introduces the climber to the complexities and problems involved in traditional leading on multi-pitch routes.

Emphasis is on safe and efficient placement of gear, creation of bombproof anchors, and efficiency during a leading sequence.

You'll practice placement and removal of various devices, while learning the strength and limitation of each one of them.

 
PRE-REQUISISTES

Basic experience is required.
An assessment of your past experience with Aribira is required.
Aribira past students are welcomed on joining this course.

Class Size: Minimum : 01
Maximum : 04
Duration: 06 field classes
No. of Hours: 18 hrs.
Location of Classes: Mountains in Rio.
Equipments Supplied: All climbing gear.
Equipments Required:
Students must bring their own Shoes (can be rented from Aribira) and Harness.
Classes: held any day of the week, weather permitting.
 
COURSE CURRICULUM
Extensive safety instructions. Choosing a climb, planning and preparing.
Rope management

Psychological factors and energy conservation

Clipping the rope. Physics of lead climbing and falling.
Anchor Creation Multi-pitch rappelling strategies
Trad. Equipment Sound judgment and decision making
Dynamic and running belay

Basic self-rescue techniques: escape from the belay and fixed line ascension.

Equalization Gear Placement
 
TRANSPORTATION

The course fee includes transportation to and from your hotel in Zona Sul of Rio to Urca.

A surcharge fee and special arrangements need to be arranged for clients staying in Santa Teresa or Barra da Tijuca.
