LEAD CLIMBING (SPORT)

If you are a climber and wishes to learn how to lead sport routes, this is the right course. Learning how to lead is the next step toward experiencing all the challenge and exhilaration of climbing.

This course is designed to teach the fundamental skills required to safely lead routes on rock, focusing the instructions on leading multi-pitch, anchor building and equalizations, and introduction to self-rescue.

 
PRE-REQUISISTES

Basic experience is required.
An assessment of your past experience with Aribira is required.
Aribira past students are welcomed on joining this course.

 
COURSE DETAILS
Class Size: Minimum : 01
Maximum : 04
Duration: 05 field classes
No. of Hours: 15 hrs.
Location of Classes: Mountains in Rio.
Equipments Supplied: All climbing gear.
Equipments Required:
Students must bring their own Shoes (can be rented from Aribira).
Classes: Held any day of the week, weather permitting.
 
COURSE CURRICULUM
Extensive safety instructions. Choosing a climb, planning and preparing.
Rope management

Psychological factors and energy conservation

Clipping the rope. Physics of lead climbing and falling.
Anchors and equalization Multi-pitch rappelling strategies
Belaying from the top Introduction to placing traditional gear.
Dynamic and running belay
Basic self-rescue techniques: escape from the belay and fixed line ascension.
 
TRANSPORTATION

The course fee includes transportation to and from your hotel in Zona Sul of Rio to Urca.

A surcharge fee and special arrangements need to be arranged for clients staying in Santa Teresa or Barra da Tijuca.
